🟢 The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared mpox a global public health emergency for the second time in two years. This decision comes after an outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has spread to neighbouring countries, including Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda.
🟢 Mpox, which typically causes mild flu-like symptoms and pus-filled lesions, has a new variant that spreads more easily. The outbreak in Congo has led to over 17,000 suspected cases and more than 500 deaths this year.
