Robbie Blake scored a vital goal in the race for the playoffs on Saturday as the clarets won all three points on their travels for only the second time since December.Plymouth put Burnley under barrages of pre sure in the second half as the home side scrapped for their lives at the wrong end of the table, but after soaking up the pre sure it was Burnley who were to travel the long distance back up north with all three points.Martin Paterson was a doubt before the match, but the Burnley striker was able to shake off a hamstring injury and therefore Owen Coyle was able to name an unchanged side for the second game in succe sion.However it was to be Argyle who were to start the brightest and they nearly took the lead with Bryce Hager Jersey their first attack when Jamie Mackie hit a drive from 25 yards which forced the Burnley goalkeeper into an early save.But it was to be the Clarets that were to take the all important lead in the 16th minute. Burnley were awarded a free kick inside the centre circle which was hit high by Alexander, the home defence failed to clear their lines and the ball fell to McCann who slipped in Blake on the left hand side.Blake then gained half a yard on his marker and whipped in a ball to the far post where Caldwell powered a header back acro s goal into the far corner of the net.But the Clarets lead didnt last very long, and it was le s than a minute before Burnley handed Argyle the equaliser. Burnley have gained a lot Zach Laskey Jersey of admirers for the football that they have been playing throughout the season, but that was to be their downfall on this occasion.Plymouth came forward but offered little as they did for the majority of the game before the goal. Blake struck the ball hard with his left foot but was denied by a great save from Larrieu as he scampered acro s the face of his goal.The half time interval came and went with no real change to the pattern of the game as the Pilgrims continued to ask questions of the Burnley defence, but then Owen Coyle changed things around a little bit as he Alec Ogletree Jersey Rodriguez replaced the disappointing Eagles before switching to a 4-4-2.Burnleyhowever remained on the back foot and more chances fell to Judge and Duguid but a lack of composure and good defending denied the two Argyle men.The game looked to be smouldering out into draw until Blake waved his magic wand yet again. A long and hopeful punt up field by the goalkeeper wasnt dealt with yet again by the Plymouthdefence.A poor clearance fell to the chest of Blake who was 30 yards out, he then chested the ball down and hammered the Brandin Cooks Jersey ball home on the half volley to give the Clarets a slender lead going into the last 10 minutes.Minutes later the Clarets had a chance to seal it.
